Underpainting dabbled onto these tall (or long) canvases. Can't wait to see what develops. You can see a bit of change to the painting with the turkey vulture on the right. The studio will be temporarily turned into a sleeping hut for a family visit next week-end. No photos to be taken!

If you are going to be in New York this spring/summer (March 15 - September 15, 2013) check into the Elizabeth Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn>

You'll find 30 quilt masterpieces and analysis of the impact that feminist scholarship has had on the interpretations of historical quilts.

Harold Klunder, one of Canada's leading painters, will visit BC in August to mentor twelve visiting artists over the course of a week. The workshop will be held on Pender Island and is already full. I am thrilled to report that I will be attending. More updates, and photos, to come. See link below or Google Harold Klunder Images.

I've posted many new photographs. Click on Photography to see them. Those who get my yearly calendars will be familiar with some of the images. Let me know what you think. :)

That's a Turkey Vulture appearing.

The purple paint was thinned with pouring medium and, using a squirt bottle, put on the canvases. The canvases were almost vertical and then they were turned so the paint went in a different direction. Both were laid flat to dry. The detail shows the original pink and yellow still showing through.

I've added a layer of green over the pink; you can see the pink peeking through. And a layer of faint purple over the yellow (with yellow showing through). Feathery shapes at the edges at points of interest. Straight lines in this painting would add tranquility. The jagged curving lines add some tension.
