Ani (Feuermann) and I are working hard to put together an exciting show at Sea Star. Her images include dancers and ghosts. Many of mine remind me of waterfalls. Click on EVENTS for details of the show. Hope to see you there!

I was working on a couple of triptychs for an important commission (for my mother) when this painting started to develop. If you are familiar with my work, it is apparent that the style of of this is quite unusual for me. After some weeks and numerous layers of paint, my brain twigged into a connection with a postcard my maternal grandmother, Aino, had sent me when she had started to develop some type of dementia. Her powerful description can be roughly translated:

I watch the waves pounding. This is life. My life.

A crowd gathered Friday night (Dec. 5th) at Sea Star to kick off its Christmas Collective Exhibit. Everyone whooped it up and many bought precious art works for the holiday season. Thanks everyone at Sea Star!

This year's Sooke Fine Arts Show will run from July 25th - Aug. 4th. See the finest works by artists from Vancouver Island and the BC Coastal Islands. For more information, please click on: http://sookefinearts.com/

I feel honoured to have two of my photographs selected for inclusion in the show. One is Shadows, as seen to the right.

My miniature tableaux are in progress. An enjoyable contrast to my large canvases. Will keep you updated.

After a too-short visit to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, I have much to process. Most importantly, I got to be re-acquainted with my godmother, Mai Onno. It was a thrill to see many of the exquisite, delicious pieces of her work and to visit her studio. She is a hurricane; I wish I could have one tenth of her intensity and passion.

I can't wait to get back in the studio.

I need some more small metal cigar boxes. I will make some sort of tableau in each. This one is just started.

The Master Painters' Retreat with Harold Klunder on Pender Island has just wrapped up. Thirteen artists ensconced in an idyllic forest setting painted their brains out for five days. For me the experience was life-changing. Harold's insight and warmth, new friendships, exquisite food by Colleen, fog, Barbra. All made for an experience that will percolate in my soul.

Today we had a delightful visit at the studio by ten women from Victoria. Thank you to Barb for arranging the trip. Please come back any time.

It's always fun to do something different. The O'Hares have been freshened up and made a bit more zany. Just awaiting a top coat for protection from the elements.

Next week it's back to some serious painting. Our Master Painters' Workshop on Pender Island with Harold Klunder starts on Monday. Thirteen experienced painters with a superb painter and mentor.

Will try to post some images as soon as I can.
